384: Worship For…

Of course, worship is for God. But could your worship also serve another purpose... another person?

I used to believe that my worship of GOD, my praise to my SAVIOR, was a personal thing, just between us, just me and GOD. While I do insist on spending time in prayer with just me and GOD, we all need those times to talk to GOD, read HIS word, with an undisturbed peace and aloneness. The thing is, is this are only form of worship? Or how about singing in church as Jeff mentioned, or just attending in the fellowship of other believers once a week on Sunday, all forms of worship I agree. But what about our public worship beyond the comfort zone of fellow Christians. How about being so bold that your actions, your behavior in view of the public, some believers some maybe not, makes the world around you take notice, possibly perking their interest to wonder, maybe even ask, what makes you behave the way you do. Is not reaching out to others in need, removing yourself or even defending the gossip that passes around the neighborhood or workplace, or visiting those society has forgotten about, are these not all forms of worship, done in the presence of our HEAVENLY FATHER, but also done in the presence of an observing world. You can hand out Bible tracts on the street corner or travel with the little silver fish on the back of your car, all worship, but to a very skeptical world, how about telling your neighbor or co-worker, no I can't go out tonight, I will be volunteering at a homeless shelter or having a neighborhood watch as you or maybe a group of believers help someone in need to clean up or paint around their home. I have heard countless stories how this form of worship, a public display of simply serving those in need around us, has brought non-believers to walk through the doors of a church, some for the first time in their lives. Can you even imagine the rejoicing in Heaven for the lost to be found and the joy all of us should feel, if we can get just even one soul to come forth and accept JESUS as LORD of their life, to help guide them to the one who offers them eternity with GOD, and all because we took the time just to help someone we knew, with no expectations of any type of earthly rewards. Yes our worship is for GOD, but what if our worship can bring those far from GOD into HIS presence, and join us in eternity with our HEAVENLY FATHER!!!!
